2026 Walk and Spin Competition

New Format for 50th Anniversary
Stroll the Massachusetts Sheep & Woolcraft Fair and use your drop spindle to spin as much yarn as you can in a 20-minute time frame. Bring your own drop spindle and phone with an app that tracks your steps or a pedometer (we will have a few on hand).

Participants will be provided fiber by Alchemy Fiber Mill.

Awards will be given out for the Most Yarn Spun (yardage) and Most Distance Covered (steps).

Come join us for this fun event!! Meet at Fiber Shed 2 at 2 pm.

Walk-ins welcome!  Limited to 12 contestants.
1. Contestants must bring their own hand Drop Spindles.
2. A set weight of prepared roving will be provided.
3. Spinners will spin for 20 minutes.
4. When time is up, the spun yarn will be taken off spindle to be measured and steps will be assessed. Note that there is limited cell reception at the fairgrounds. Not responsible for pedometer, app, or other step collection method malfunctions.
5. Judge’s decision is final.
6. Award based on number of YARDS SPUN and number of STEPS TAKEN.
7. No entry fee. 
8. Entries close at the start of the competition.
